Oakdale boasts a number of competitive teams for both boys and girls. Competing in CYSA's CAL Soccer League, Oakdale's youth system has impressively grown over the past few years.
Our competitive program focuses on true player development, within our LTPD (Long Term Player Development) Model, we have 5 phases;
U5/6 FUNdamentals
Our U5/6 FUNdamentals program is centered on fun whilst also teaching the players the techniques of the game, which are appropriate to their age group. We allow the players to be creative, without too much structure so that they learn to love the game.
U7/8/9 Technical Foundations
The U7/8/9 program is based on individual player development, where our coaches use a fun yet challenging curriculum to educate the players. Sessions include a lot of time on the ball for each player, helping them become a master of the ball.
U10/11/12 Window of Opportunity
In the U10/11/12 age groups we continue on from the technical foundations program, and continue to work on all of the techniques with soccer, such as passing, shooting, receiving the ball, and defending to name a few. In the latter of this bracket we introduce tactics to the players as well.
U13/14/15 Training to Compete
Training to compete, is preparing the players for soccer further along the line, whether that be ODP, High School, college, or professionally. The emphasis is on the tactical aspects of the game but also in the earlier age’s fine tuning the technical elements of the individual player.
U16+ Training to Win
The final phase of the LTPD model is training to win, throughout the first 4 stages the players have learnt all of the technical, and tactical aspects of the game. The emphasis is to help players achieve their full potential, through a training to win mentality.
